Latin-American Forum on REDD

The Latin-American Forum on REDD aims to facilitate the communication and, through the website, promote experience and information exchanges amongst Latin American countries – reducing, then, information barriers on REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation).

The Forum creation took place on February 13th, 2009, during the '1st South-South Cooperation on REDD Activities Workshop', event held in Manaus (AM), Brazil, where were brought together many REDD experts from ten Latin-American countries and the United States for exchanging experiences about their projects in Latin America.

This website was created so all interested people could use it as a way of communication in order to submit information, articles, and texts related to REDD. Moreover, official documents on REDD from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and related events can also be posted.

The forum was created by 14 representatives of NGOs, governments and indigenous organizations that work with REDD and payments for environmental services initiatives in nine Latin American countries. As established in the Workshop, the Amazonas Sustainable Foundation (Fundação Amazonas Sustentável, FAS) is the entity responsible for integrating and coordinating the communication within the group.

ALL people and institutions interested on REDD, that would like to receive information on this site and that sees this platform as an opportunity to submit their experiences and information on the subject, are invited to participate of the Latin-American Forum on REDD.
